Resumen

Starting with the analysis of recent changes in the capitalist mode of production – the transition from Fordism to flexible accumulation – this article intends to help in understanding the current nature of teaching in basic education, particularly the transformations in the work process. To this extent, we analyze some aspects of the teaching work, such as school social function, class composition, hiring forms, autonomy, in addition to the degree of subordination of the work of these professionals to capital and to the state.
