Resumo

Taking another look at the state of the art of certification in the country, the authors find no significant advances in the last three years. Traditional organisms, linked to quality and productivity, meet the requirements of competitive market sectors or of export rules. The educational system seeks an adequate approach to fulfill the stipulations of the Basic Guidelines Law (LDB) and the National Education Council. It requires high quality effort to revise and redo curriculum strategies, incorporating flexibility and effective communication with the labor market, particularly with more technologically advanced companies. The labor sector continues to prioritize labor reform and employment promotion. Considering alternatives to better attune the certification system to the country’s socioeconomic demands, the authors discuss the need for the presence and role of social actors and negotiations.
